Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Acid Attack First Aid Kit include? ▼

This kit contains chemical safety goggles; chemical resistant gloves; a face mask with valve; two large sterile (HSE-style) dressings; cling film roll; four 500 ml bottles of neutralising eye-wash; two 20 ml eye-wash pods; universal indicator pH strips (20); shears; waste bags; as well as a guidance leaflet.

Can this acid attack first aid kit be used for acid or alkali chemical burns? ▼

The included neutralising eye wash solution, large dressings, and protective PPE allow for the immediate flushing of skin or eyes in a chemical spill emergency, as well as protection for responders.

Should the eye-wash be used before calling emergency services? ▼

If safe to do so, begin eye or skin irrigation immediately while awaiting an ambulance. Chemical burns require immediate flushing under water.

Is any training required to use this kit effectively? ▼

Responders using this kit should have basic first aid and chemical hazard awareness, as well as training in safe removal of contaminated clothing, use of PPE and immediate irrigation.

How often should this acid attack kit be checked and restocked? ▼

Sterile and chemical exposure items have expiry dates. Employers should assign a first aider to inspect contents often, and replace any used or expired items.
