What is the difference between adherent and low adherent dressings?

An adherent dressing has an adhesive border that sticks to the surrounding skin to secure it in place. The central pad is still designed not to stick to the wound itself. A low adherent dressing has no adhesive and must be held in place with tape or a bandage, which can be gentler for fragile skin or larger areas.
