Axiostat induces faster hemostasis than natural blood clotting cascade due to electrostatic interaction between positively charged biopolymer of Axiostat and the negatively charged blood cells.
Through its positive charge, the biopolymer attracts clotting factors, red blood cells (RBC) and platelets and entraps them into its porous structure, which leads to the activation of the platelets and results in formation of a strong blood clot.

How does the patch stop bleeding? ▼
The chitosan-based biopolymer has a positive charge that attracts red blood cells, platelets and clotting factors, and traps them in a porous matrix to rapidly accelerate haemostasis as opposed to natural clotting.
Is it suitable for arterial bleeding? ▼
Axiostat can assist in the control of severe bleeding, however, arterial haemorrhage usually needs immediate advanced interventions (tourniquet, emergency care); use the patch only as an additional item per local protocols and the IFU.
How should it be stored and checked? ▼
It is strongly recommended to store these patches in the original sealed packaging, and to protect from moisture and extremes. Additionally, it is important to rotate stock by expiry date and check packaging integrity and expiry before use.
