Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Burncare Burn Gel sachet for? ▼

The burn gel sachet contains a sterile water based hydrogel to soothe and cool minor burns or scalds, helping to relieve pain, keep hydration, and protect the burn wound from infection.

Should burn gel be used instead of cool water? ▼

Running a burn under cool running water for 20 minutes is the universally recommended first aid treatment for burns when available. Burn gel should only be used as an alternative only when cool running water is not readily accessible or practical.

Is this burn gel suitable for all ages and burn areas? ▼

This burn gel is suitable for minor burns and scalds across all ages, and may be used on facial burns or scalds, when handled with care.

Can this gel be included in workplace first aid kits? ▼

Stocking burn gels is recommended where burn risk exists (e.g. kitchens, catering, vehicles, mobile work), in addition to the standard contents recommended for a workplace first aid kit based on a risk assessment for your workplace.

How should the burn gel sachet be stored in a first aid cabinet? ▼

It is recommended to store the burn gel sachet in a cool, dry place; protected from direct heat or sunlight. Make sure that the pouch stays sealed until use, and check expiry date before including it in a first aid kit.
