Open the sterile eye wash, and aim the nozzle at the inner corner of the affected eye, and gently squeeze the bottle of eye wash so that the solution flows across the eye, flushing out contaminants. Continue for at least 15 minutes or until professional medical help is available.​ Ensure to gently hold the eyelids of the affected eye open, and ask the person to keep moving their eyeball to ensure thorough rinsing with the eye wash solution.

The eye wash solution typically has a shelf life of up to 4-5 years.
