What first aid supplies do I need for an event?

Most events need at least one well-stocked first aid kit, plus consumables such as plasters, wound cleansing wipes, nitrile gloves, bandages, foil blankets and instant ice packs. Larger or higher-risk events should also provide CPR face shields, body fluid spill kits and clearly identifiable first aiders in high-visibility vests. The exact provision should be based on your event risk assessment, expected crowd size and the activities taking place.

How many first aiders are required at an event in the UK?

There is no single fixed number. UK guidance such as the HSE's Event Safety guidance and the Purple Guide recommends basing first aid cover on a risk assessment that considers audience size, event type, duration, weather and access for emergency services. Small low-risk events may need only a trained first aider and a kit, while large festivals require a dedicated medical team.

What should be in an event first aid kit?

A typical event first aid kit contains assorted plasters, sterile dressings, triangular bandages, wound cleansing wipes, disposable gloves, foil blankets, adhesive tape, scissors and a resuscitation face shield. For busy public events it is also sensible to add extra dressings, instant ice packs and a body fluid spill kit.
