In the UK, the colour coding system assigns yellow lid bins for sharps contaminated with medicines, biohazardous chemicals or bodily fluids, which ensures the correct disposal of the sharps bin by incineration. 

How do I safely dispose of a full yellow sharps bin? ▼

Once the fill line has been reached inside the sharps bin, close the lid and use the permanent lock. Dispose of the sharps bin via a licensed clinical waste contractor under UK law, making sure that incineration is specified for yellow sharps bin disposal. Do not fill the bin past the fill line, as this could result in a needlestick emergency, and resulting in cross contamination and further injury.
